Home Heath Care

There are many ways to care for “health” in the home. One may care for emotional health, physical health, medical health, and nutritional health. The words have many definitions. It can be very difficult to differentiate between labeling an agency or a caregiver as “home care” or “home health care”. That is why many people go searching for in home "health" care online when they may need something more like high quality daily living support.

Regardless of the specific type of care you may seek, the agencies that provide this care are governed by a set of specific terminology that they must use. If you wish to see helpful care at home, this is useful to know, so you may find the services you desire.

The Department of Health & Human Services in North Carolina has a specific guideline when it comes to “Health Care”, or “Home Care”. The agencies that provide assistance in “Daily Living Activities”, and remind their clients to take their medication, are considered to be Home Care Agencies, and are regulated by the state. All of them are audited yearly to make sure all of our seniors are safe.

Home Care Agencies, unlike Health Care Agencies do not need a physician’s order to provide services. On the other hand, Home Health Care Agencies mainly deal with people’s health condition requirements and are usually called in by the attending physician. A Home Health Agency’s staff primarily consists of medical professionals, like doctors and nurses.

Home Care Agency staff provides “Certified Nursing Assistance” (CNA) or nursing assistance by their caregivers. At Home Care Agencies one or two nurses open the case, take care of various regulatory matters, and then the regular caregivers proceed to provide the regular daily or weekly care needed.

A professional doctor or nurse is not needed for all types of in home care. When one is searching for affordable caregivers, it is useful to know which type of care you really need. Usually the two categories of care are confusing to people and we can help you clarify the needs in your situation. It is important that you feel assured you are obtaining the proper care you need, be it home health care or just home care.
